Storefront Scenes

This proposal delves into an exploration of diverse materiality through dramatic apertures in what at first appears to be simple platonic construction. The proliferated apertures reveal and erode layers of material that hold meaning, history, and tectonic value in a playful way. The apertures are cut at varying angles and degrees to push material limitations and create new conditions, such as window seats, variegated enfilades, and stairs between material layers. Circulation and locker rooms weave between the thickness of the wall poche and empty into larger rehearsal and performance spaces for this new Dance and Performance Residency in Harvard Square.
