Occupying the Boundary

This design project analyzes the role of an existing wall bounding a park from its surrounding neighborhood through representations of perceptions of this boundary from the vantage point of three key park occupants:  a child, an adult, and a resident of adjacent triple-deckers overlooking the park.  The project redesigns the existing boundary so that it is occupiable in ways that increase the perceptual richness for park occupants and rebuild ties to the surrounding neighborhood in parts while preserving a sense of enclosure in others.  The boundary is reconceived of as something simultaneously responsive to external context and site occupation.
