Light as Matter

This project engages hierarchies of motion to reveal patterns of order amongst perceived disorder.  In an initial collage, an array of lines adheres to a specific hierarchy but overlap to signal an additional hierarchy.  In three-dimensions, a physical model is "cut out" by the geometries of the two-dimensional collage, allowing the projection of the flat collage to have a physicalized depth.  When imagining the constraints of a site, four specific collages were created to abstract the changing light conditions.  The totem situates light projection as something that simultaneously creates depth and allows for the temporal to become material.
