Corner Capture: Enlivened Liminal Public Space

This project develops a formal and organizational strategy for volumetric space via means of analytical representation of existing site conditions.  Street elevations around a block were mapped and laid flat in scaled correspondence with their geographic location in the plan of a city block.  The 2D overlaps that occur at corners are developed in 3D with both plan and section as zones for building new architecture.  These become developable spatial volumes to be infilled within alleys and gaps along the street fronts of the block.  This project experiments with the insertion of a public corridor-meets butcher shop for one such corner space captured via this design process.  Paths of movement along the street are drawn through the corner space, intricately interweaving a temporary public body within a semi-interior space charged with the processing and preparation of another body for public sale and consumption.
